Thoughts on Downtown San Diego

As much as I appreciate the successful transformation of Downtown San Diego's gaslamp district and hope that Downtown Los Angeles will be as successful, crowded and lively, I could do without the raging drunkenness of college students and navy and army boys.  I hope that Downtown Los Angeles goes the way of New York rather than San Diego as far as diversity and culture are concerned (no offense, San Diego - Stay classy).

I make these observations after spending Thursday-Saturday in downtown San Diego for a conference (and having spent many other weekend vacations down south).  Luckily, all of downtown San Diego does not cater to drunken college students and boys on leave.  I would gladly welcome San Diego establishments like Quality Social (@QualitySocial), Basic (@barbasic), Craft & Commerce, and The Propagandist (@PropagandistBar) to downtown Los Angeles. Here's hoping the college/military scene of San Diego and doucheyness of Hollywood does not infiltrate Downtown Los Angeles.

Hopefully, the current Downtown Los Angeles bars, restaurants, art galleries, shops and Bringing Back Broadway (@DTLA_Broadway) can help keep Downtown on track to achieve the delicate balance of promoting and preserving the history, badassness, artistic, upscale, and independent aspects of Downtown!  I have high hopes!
