Downtown Blog, Websites and Resources

In honor of #FF on Twitter and to further educate myself, I sought to compile a list of downtown Los Angeles - centric blogs and websites (and their Twitter handles).

BLOGS

View From A Loft (@viewfromaloft)
Ed Fuente's blog. He is a well known writer (also writes for KCET), photographer, muralist, photographer and artist.  He is the go-to guy for anything related to art in Downtown Los Angeles and the Arts District.

DnA+ (@ATLofDnA)
From Broadway to South Park. Another individual capturing her life working and living in downtown with dogs and a baby.

Ginny Here and There
(@ginnycase)
Established and committed downtown resident, expert and mother. She declares herself to be "an admitted busybody, her business is to get into everyone else’s business to find a way to sing their praises until she’s cleared the room."

Blog Downtown (@blogdowntown)
A self-proclaimed "online community hub for Downtown Los Angeles, delivering the news and information that our readers need to be the most informed and active members of their neighborhood," published by Southern California Radio. As was noted a month ago in Ginny Here and There entitled Where Are All the Bloggiest, most of the blogs listed at the end of Blog Downtown are inactive. I have sought to remedy that and compile a complete list of active downtown blogs and websites here.

Downtown Muse (@DowntownMuse)
Downtown Muse is an independent cultural producer based in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles since 1993 who promotes DTLA "Seen & Scenes" - people, places, random things and community events.

Hello DTLA (@hellodtla)
A Photoblog of Downtown Los Angeles described, as a "lover and resident of downtown LA. If these streets could talk."

Blogs of Brady Westwater (@bradywestwater)
List of walking tours of Downtown Los Angeles and how to get involved in perserving Downtown Los Angeles.

"A Downtown Development and Lifestyle Site" that follows and shares "the progress and rebirth of the trueHEART of Los Angeles, from what's already happening to what's on the horizon."

WEBSITES

Brigham Yen Downtown Los Angeles News & Updates (@brigham)
Brigham is the go-to man for news related to the development of and planing for Downtown Los Angeles. Want to know when that new restaurant is going to open or what is planned for the building that was recently purchased? Check his site.

Los Angeles Downtown News (@DowntownNews)
Website for the newspaper for everything related to downtown Los Angeles.

Bringing Back Broadway (@DTLA_Broadway)
A coalition of city leaders, downtown residents, civic and business organizations and property owners of the largest historic theatre district west of the Mississippi, working towards a shared vision to bring back the glory of Broadway. I love Broadway and cannot wait for this vision to become a reality. Check this site for progress and updates. Also check out LA Street Car (@LAStreetCar)

Curbed Los Angeles (@CurbedLA)
Another great site for information related to all news, development and plans for downtown Los Angeles. Does not exclusively serve Downtown. Curbed defines itself as a site that breathes 'life into real estate and neighborhood news with witty and insightful coverage of the country's most vibrant urban centers."

LA Streets Blog (@lastreetsblog)
Covers the Eastside, South Los Angeles and Santa Monica. Streetsblog is a "daily news source connecting people to information about sustainable transportation and livable communities." It is published by OpenPlans and edited by the Southern California Streets Initiative, both of which are non-profits.

Downtown Art Walk (@DowntownArtWalk)
Resource for the second Thursday of every month!

213 Nightlife (@213Nightlife)
Historic Downtown Los Angeles Nightlife Proprietor covering the Seven Grand, Cole's, The Varnish, Broadway Bar, Casey's, Golden Gopher, Caña, Tony's, and Las Perlas.

Los Angeles Conservancy (@LAConservancy)
The Los Angeles Conservancy is a nonprofit membership organization that works through education and advocacy to recognize, preserve, and revitalize the historic architectural and cultural resources of Los Angeles County. Also responsible for the Last Remanding Seats series, screening classic films in classic Downtown theaters, starting now!

Updates from the Arts District, which is bounded by the Los Angeles River, Alameda Street, the 101 Freeway, and 7th Street.

Gallery Row (@GalleryRow)
Covering galleries, museums, theater, shops, public art and the art walk in Downtown Los Angeles.

Downtown Lobby (@DowntownLobby)
Slightly deceiving name, but this blog focuses on covering music news in all of Los Angeles.

And there is always a DTLA Facebook page.

If you have any Downtown-centric blogs, sites or resources I have missed, please let me know.

Don't forget to follow for updates about everything related to downtown Los Angeles (and sports) @PantlessAlley
