Weather

I am not a Los Angeles or Southern California native.  I am also not from a locale in which there exists real weather (i.e. snow). But, at least, I grew up with seasons and temperatures that drop below 40 degrees.

Los Angeles has no weather. Even when it "rains" it is not real rain. It is more like the clouds are spitting. Drizzle or spatter may be more appropriate terms than rain.

Due to the dearth of weather here, I become very excited by any prospect of actual weather. Logically, I was thrilled this morning to pull out my waterproof/snowproof boots I wore religiously during my two winters in New York and my Plaza umbrella.

It was only after I began my walk to work, that I thought: (1) I might be overdoing it for the possibility of spatter and (2) no one else was wearing rainboots and would probably construe my practicality as a misguided fashion statement. Regarding No.2, I was happy it was only a sprinkle during my walk as I did not have to tuck my suit pants into the boots for that urban pirate lawyer look.  And (3) it was only after my sweaty arrival to work that I realized my boots were heavy, hot and not wholly suitable for the California temperatures.

And I am still waiting for the rain....
