Walk Up Conversion

Reminiscent of my Brooklyn Walk-Up
I am committing myself to think of our apartment building as a six story walk-up. Thus, I will attempt to eliminate my use of the elevator. This is an effort to burn a few extra calories a day. Luckily, I cannot convince myself that the elevator saves me time and therefore,I should resort to its use. It is slow. One of the slowest elevators I have ever used. I think they have not updated the hardware since 1908. Plus, as more and more people move in, the longer the wait time becomes.

As humans are inherently lazy or want to exert the least amount of effort (or at least I feel that way as the allure of the elevator tries to call me back), I must remind myself I only lived in walk-ups in New York because I was too poor to afford a building with an elevator.

I lived in a six-story walk-up in Manhattan (coincidentally, claimed to be where Obama lived in the 80s). I can live in a six story walk up again! Unless, of course, I need to carry some large piece of art, glass or furniture then the building will magically have an elevator in installed. But barring that special situational carve out, I will only use the stairs!

TBA: Stair vs. Elevator Race

A stair vs. elevator race will be scheduled for sometime in the near future. Be on the lookout for the update!
