Not Just the Ugly

I am easily sidetracked. I blame it on human nature.

My intention in starting this blog was to record the amazing, good, bad and ugly of living in downtown Los  Angeles.  A public diary of sorts.  I wanted a clever name and memorable name.  Perhaps my cleverness has gotten the best of me.

What I do not want, is that I do want to leave the impression that all downtown Los Angeles is is cracking smoking naked homeless people.  I also do not want to exploit those individuals.

I think I have lost sight of the purpose of starting this blog, which was to capture moments living in downtown Los Angeles. I need to highlight the amazing, beauty and good along with the bad and ugly.  Hopefully, the amazing, beauty and good would be just as entertaining as the bad and the ugly.

For the past several days I have been pondering how to describe downtown Los Angeles and what I love about it.  I have yet to come up with a cohesive statement. Its mainly words fluttering around: potential,  energy, history, diversity, and character. Its everything smashed and mixed up into a stew.

I like to describe the block we live on to describe the portion of downtown we live in. On one end we have Artisan House, an upscale restaurant and bar that sells $13 grass feed roast beef sandwiches and white truffle oil. The other end is a Mexican restaurant that is barely standing up and accepts food stamps. I love that downtown is the opposite of a gated community and that all types and walks of life can stand on the same street corner and call downtown Los Angeles home.
